Taking in the view!!
This is an aerial view of the medieval Arab farmhouse, attached to the Crusader castle where we work each day. Wanted you to share in the view of the Mediterranean. Isn't it breath taking!
A wonderful place, the Ciftliki. Although crowded with tourists during the day (from 9 to 4), many of whom are dressed quite...casually, for much of the day and the cool evening we have it to ourselves. Hard to beat, walking barefoot around the smooth paving stones of the keep, the sides of which are crowded with ancient artifacts gathered from Paleopaphos, which sits just outside the building's gates. A wonderful, wonderful setting to perform our tasks...
Uncovering the Language and Religion of ancient Cyprus
Follow along as we examine the findings from the Rantidi Forest of Cyprus. Students from Eastern Washington University have the opportunity to dig for ancient artifacts and immerse themselves in the life of a distant civilization.
Cyprus lay at the vital center of the maritime trade routes between the Near East, Egypt, and the Aegean. The languages, cultures, technologies, and religions of the ancient world collided and blended on this unique island. Come explore Cyprus - the hub of the ancient world.
